No. F402
Victorian Silver "Harlequin" Candle Doubter.

Made by John & Frank Pairpoint in London, 1899.
Length 4.5" (11.5cm). Weight 1.41 troy oz. (44g).
Price £435.00

The reason that this piece is reffered to as a candle doubter,
and not as a pair of sugar nips (as they would appear to be at first glance),
is that the feet are flat and are therefore designed
to extinguish a flaming wick, as opposed to gripping a lump of sugar.
