A George II silver salver.
Made by Robert Abercromby in London, 1742.
Diameter 15" (38cm). Weight 45 Troy oz (1400gr).
Circular with a shell and scroll border.
The center is engraved with a crest and motto within a rococo cartouche.
Standing on four scroll feet.
The crest is that of Gillett family and the motto reads: "Spes Mea In Deo" ( My hope is in God).
Robert Abercromby of St Martin's Le Grand in London, was and still is a highly respected specialist salver maker.
